Thrive After School is a state-licensed, 3 STAR childcare/enrichment program.
Through our partnership with JFK Elementary School and the Winooski School District, we seek to build a community where children can explore, learn, and grow during their after school hours while providing a safe place for children. This program is perfect for caring adults who support working families.
Our daily structure provides children with opportunities to expand on the learning that takes place during the school day and allows them to explore and grow through play-based, hands-on learning. We have opportunities for outside time and other gross-motor play, imaginative play, STEM learning, art, literacy, skill-building activities, and exploring hobbies and interests. We also use this time in our program community to guide children’s social development with the language of Social Thinking as used during the school day, allowing children to practice what they have been learning socially in their classrooms.
The City’s Car Seat Fitting Program provides safe, appropriate, and proper car seat installation to caregivers who transport children in personal vehicles. This program is the product of a partnership between the City of Winooski and the State of Vermont Department of Health who provided the training and certification. Fittings are available for free for anyone transporting children. Car seats (provided by a grant from the EvenFlo company) will be made available to community members who need them, but fittings can be made with pre-purchased car seats so long as they meet the appropriate requirements.
Fittings are available by appointment only. Call or email to make your appointment with our certified Child Passenger Safety Technician through the Winooski Police Department today: 802 655 0221
Fittings take place at the O’Brien Community Center located on 32 Malletts Bay Avenue, Winooski VT 05404.
