Press Release: NRPA Parks and Recreation Month

Summer is here, which means it’s time to get out and explore the great things happening in Winooski! Since 1985, America has celebrated July as Park and Recreation Month. As a program of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), the goal of this campaign is to raise awareness of the vital impact that parks and recreation has on communities across the U.S. This July, join in on the fun and games offered by Winooski Recreation and Parks as we celebrate! A variety of fun activities are planned for residents of all ages and abilities — including:

  • Free Pick Up Soccer (at the Winooski School District)
  • DIY Tuesdays (arts and crafts)
  • Winooski Wednesdays (free concert series in Rotary Park)
  • Teddy Bear Picnic
  • Art in Nature
  • Urban Camp Out

To see the full list of programs and events our Recreation and Parks team has to offer this month visit! NRPA and Winooski Rec. encourages people that support parks and recreation to share why they think it’s important with the hashtag #GameOnJuly. Follow along all month on our Facebook page: @winooskirec
