Commission for Inclusion and Belonging
The Winooski Commission for Inclusion & Belonging Commission acts as an advisory group for the City Council with a focus on equitable policies and best practices for inclusion. This commission will establish Equity Ambassadors who will sit on each of the City's established commissions to bring diverse voices and perspectives to the decision-making table in Winooski, and give updates on our shared equity-related goals. In addition, this commission will serve to advise the City Council on implementing the Strategic Vision areas and goals related to equity as outlined in the Master Plan. The City of Winooski seeks to appoint members that are as diverse as our community. Given the policy role in advising the Council, a commitment to principles and best practices of equity and inclusion are paramount.
Town Meeting TV Trustee
Town Meeting TV airs and archives public meetings, election coverage, and community events for their many local government partners, including Winooski. The mission of Town Meeting TV is to be a trusted provider of multi-media resources that open the door to local government. The Town Meeting TV Trustees are the governing body that oversees the contract for local government coverage and monitors the use of the resources. Meetings are held once a month, usually on the 2nd Tuesday. If you are a Winooski resident who values the mission and services of Town Meeting TV, this volunteer opportunity is an excellent way to get engaged with local government and give back to the community.
The Winooski Finance Commission is a policy advising group to the City Council. It serves to advise the Council on implementing the Economic Vitality Strategic Vision area as outlined in the Master Plan and ensuring the City maintains an overall strong financial position. Economic Vitality: "Maintain and expand our economic development to ensure long-term vibrancy."
Municipal Infrastructure Commission
The Municipal Infrastructure Commission is a policy advising group to the City Council and serves to implement its Strategic Vision area as outlined in the Master Plan. Municipal Infrastructure: "Invest in the City’s municipal infrastructure, including energy resources, facilities and technology; roads and sidewalks; and water, sewer, and storm water lines and facilities. Infrastructure investment will make our City safe and accessible to residents and visitors while recognizing the critical role that we play in the region’s system."
Safe, Healthy, Connected People Commission
The Safe, Healthy, Connected People Commission is a policy advising group to the City Council and serves to implement its Strategic Vision area as outlined in the City's Master Plan: Safe, Healthy, Connected People: "Foster relationships across generations and cultures by providing a safe and healthy environment and providing opportunities to connect and engage with other residents of the City." This commission works with the City's Community Services and Public Safety departments, which include Police, Fire, Code, Recreation & Parks, the Winooski Memorial Library, the Winooski Senior Center, and Thrive After School.
