Winooski Recreation and Parks Teen Job Training Courses

Winooski Recreation and Parks are excited to announce 3 teen job training opportunities! Are you a teen looking to learn a new skill, expand your resume, and invest in your career? Check out the details below:

Lifeguard Training 🏊

We've partnered with the Greater Burlington YMCA to provide lifeguard training! Participants will improve their swimming, get a Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, and a lifeguarding job at the Myers Memorial Pool this summer. Includes 4 weeks of swim lessons, 15 hours of online coursework, and 10 weeks of in-person lifeguard training.

  • Wednesdays, February 1 - 22 / March 8 - May 17
  • 3 - 5:30 PM @ Greater Burlington YMCA
  • Pick up & drop off at the Winooski School District JFK playground
  • Transportation provided

Soccer Referee Certification  

We've partnered with the US Soccer Learning Center to provide the First-Time Grassroots Referee Certification, providing participants with the skills they need to referee fun, fair, and engaging soccer matches.

Safe Sitter® Certification 👶 

Are you a teen interested in obtaining a new skill set that could lead to helping out families in your community and earning some money? Join Community Services Admin and Outreach Assistant, Zahra Mohamed, in this 6-week babysitting training course to obtain your Safe Sitter Certification as well as an introduction to First Aid/CPR this spring This is an amazing opportunity to bulk up your resume!

Thanks to donations of ESSER Funds from the Winooski School District, this program is FREE for Winooski youth. The normal cost of this program is $200.00. If you'd like to make a donation to sustain the ongoing success of recreational youth programming you will have the option to do so during checkout.
