[ARCHIVED] Precautionary Boil Water Notice 9/30/19

Commission Orientation

The Department of Public Works is finalizing repairs to the water main break at the intersection of Main and Burling. Although water service has returned, the Department of Public Works is issuing a precautionary boil water notice for affected users only (Main Street from Normand Street to Burling Street, Burling Street, and Barbara Lane), effective immediately until further notice.

Due to the disruption and maintenance, there is a possibility that drinking water supply in the affected area may have become contaminated on the way to the tap.

DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. People with severely compromised immune systems, infants, and some elderly may be at increased risk. These people should seek advice about drinking water from their health care providers. General guidelines on ways to lessen the risk of infection by microbes are available from EPA’s Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1 (800) 426-4791.

Questions regarding water service can be sent to Jon Rauscher, Director of Public Works: / 802 655 6410
