Using Fireworks in Winooski is Illegal and Dangerous

No Fireworks

The Winooski Police and Fire Departments would like to remind everyone that the residential use of fireworks in Winooski is illegal and dangerous. No permits for fireworks are being issued at this time. Please keep the safety of your families, friends, and neighbors in mind this summer. Fireworks not used by trained professionals can cause serious bodily injury, death, or severe fires within our densely populated community.

  • Please report any illegal fireworks activity by calling the Winooski Police Department: 802 655 0221
  • Educate yourself on the dangers of fireworks - via National Fire Protection Association
  • See section 6.15 of the Winooski Municipal Code which prohibits the use of fireworks – “Except as hereinafter provided it shall be unlawful for any person, firm, co-partnership or corporation to offer for sale, expose for sale, sell at retail or wholesale, possess, use or explode any fireworks; and it shall also be unlawful for any person, firm, co-partnership or corporation to transport fireworks except in interstate commerce.” See also Section VII – Penalties.
