[ARCHIVED] Winooski Rec. Volunteers Needed!

Public Hearing

Winooski Recreation and Parks have three new volunteer opportunities! Are you experienced with the outdoors, education, and exercise? View these amazing opportunities below or visit our volunteer page to learn more and apply today.

Nordic Skiing Volunteer

Under the direction of the Winooski Recreation and Parks, in partnership with the Catamount Trail Association, the Nordic Skiing Volunteer will support our Nordic Skiing at Gilbrook program. This exciting outdoor opportunity takes place in the trail network of the Gilbrook Natural Area right here in Winooski. Volunteers will help facilitate the distribution of equipment to drop-in participants and answer any questions/provide assistance to less experienced Nordic skiers.

Exercise Video Instructor

Under the direction of the Winooski Recreation and Parks, Exercise Video Instructor Volunteers will work with our team to record exercise, wellness, or fitness classes in their area of expertise to be posted on our outreach channels and accessed by community members.

Eco-Educator Volunteer

Under the direction of Winooski Recreation & Parks, in partnership with the Winooski Valley Parks District, the Eco-Educator volunteer will lead a group of kids through Winooski’s natural parks introducing them to the wildlife living as their neighbors. Each week, for six sessions, the Eco Educator will assist students in their exploration of local birds and animals. They will provide structure so that the participants may gain an understanding of how to use binoculars, basic tracking techniques, and snowshoes. Students will journal their findings in this ecological investigation of their hometown. Ultimately, our volunteer will work alongside Winooski’s Youth Programs Coordinator to help facilitate a fun and educational experience for middle schoolers.
