The City of Winooski is currently looking for engaged and passionate community members to join our Safe, Healthy, Connected People Commission. This Commission is a policy advising group to the City Council and serves to implement its Strategic Vision area as outlined in the City's Master Plan - Safe, Healthy, Connected People: "Foster relationships across generations and cultures by providing a safe and healthy environment and providing opportunities to connect and engage with other residents of the City."
To get started on this process,
Commissioners engage our friends and neighbors in the critical work of our Community Services and Public Safety Departments, which include Recreation and Parks, the Winooski Memorial Library, the Winooski Senior Center, our Thrive After School Program, and our Police and Fire Departments. These services wouldn't be the same without resident input and engagement. Are you looking to get involved with the public process? Do you want to make a change in Winooski? The Safe, Healthy, Connected People Commission has assisted in many of the City's ongoing initiatives, including the Winooski Parks and Open Space Master Plan, the Myers Memorial Pool Renovation Project, Public Safety Heroes Day, the Winooski Youth Council, COVID-19 community support, and more!
Now more than ever, we need to stay connected and healthy as a community. Traditionally, the commission meets once a month and commissioners serve on a volunteer basis for a two-year term. To best represent our diverse community, we are especially seeking volunteers who identify with new American, BIPOC, and youth populations. Those who speak English as a second language are encouraged to apply - what programs, services, and changes do you want to see in your community?
