2021 Thrive Summer Camp - Registration Now Open

Thrive Summer

The City of Winooski proudly presents our 2021 Thrive Summer Camp Program! This program is designed to engage kids (grades K - 5) in outdoor exploration, STEM activities, artistic expression, trips to the pool, and fun in the sun. View our program details below:

We have an amazing schedule of activities planned:

  • Slime Time! 🟢 - Week of June 21 - Explore and learn about all things messy, slimy, and sensory. We’ll follow and adjust recipes to make different kinds of slime, stress ball balloons, and Oobleck, and compete to see who can create the most powerful bouncy ball.
  • Aquatic Adventures 🏊 - Week of June 28 - We’ll learn about amazing aquatic ecosystems and the animals that live in them, as well as spend plenty of time cooling off with water balloons, boat-building challenges, and watercolor arts.
  • Animal Planet 🦁 - Week of July 5 - This week at Thrive we’ll play animal trivia, learn about adaptations, and go on our own mini-safari to survey the species that live in Winooski.
  • Edible Engineering 🍕 - Week of July 12 - Engage in hands-on activities that are both delicious and fun. We’ll build and use solar ovens, design structures using edible ingredients, and explore chemical reactions that create tasty treats.
  • Fairy Tale STEM 🐲 - Week of July 19 - We’ll read and explore different fairy tales and design our own versions of wolf-proof houses, beanstalk parachutes, rainbow towers, and more!
  • Makerspace Creations 🤖 - Week of July 26 - Our classroom will transform into a maker space, complete with a 3D printer. Students will think like inventors and artists as they make robots, racecars, rollercoasters, and their own 3D-printed creations.

As a licensed program, we accept state subsidies to cover the cost of Thrive. Some scholarships are available to meet additional financial needs. Thrive will be following all health and safety guidance from VT state agencies as well as Winooski School District rules, including physical distancing, facial coverings for all children and staff, exclusion of sick children from the program, and frequent disinfecting of spaces and objects. Questions regarding this program can be sent to Kate Anderson, Children and Family Programs Manager:
