[ARCHIVED] Press Release: North End Studios New Winooski Location

NNS

It is official! North End Studios is now offering programming and events space at the O’Brien Community Center at 32 Malletts Bay Avenue in Winooski.

North End Studios will now include three locations:

  • "Flagship Location" Studio A at 294 N. Winooski Avenue, Burlington
  •  Event Hall at the Old North End Community Center at 20 Allen St., Burlington
  •  North End Studios at the O'Brien Center at 32 Malletts Bay Avenue in Winooski

By adding this new location in Winooski, North End Studios co-directors, April Werner and Ben Bergstein plan to expand their existing model and enable the O’Brien Center to reach its full potential as a well-equipped and affordable venue for community activities. The facility is available to individuals and organizations from Winooski and beyond. Since spaces that can accommodate more than 100 people are difficult to find, a top priority is outfitting the community room and the gym with all the essentials needed for putting on larger, one-time events, such as weddings, celebrations, conferences, cultural festivals and fundraisers. They are also improving several of the smaller rooms for regularly occurring uses like weekly classes and meetings. In order to provide equal access to renting space at the O’Brien Center, North End Studios will use a first-come, first-served basis for bookings. Winooski residents and most non-profit organizations will be offered discounted prices on rentals.

Already, some regularly scheduled North End Studios activities have been slated to move to the O’Brien Community Center site. These including creative movement for preschoolers, adult stretch and strength, Nepalese traditional dance and karate, pole dance, hip hop dance, long sword practice and a music program for toddlers and parents. North End Studios would like to hear from those interested in renting space to offer classes or hold events. They are also looking for ideas about activities that the public would like to see happening at the Center.
