[ARCHIVED] Now Hiring: Summer Teen Employment Program

STEP

The City of Winooski Summer Teen Employment Program (STEP) is OPEN! Are you between the ages of 16 - 21? Are you looking for an amazing opportunity this summer to get paid while giving back to the community? We have four amazing positions with the Winooski Fire Department, our Thrive After School program, at the Winooski Memorial Library, and with Winooski Recreation and Parks. STEP Public Safety Assistant

The STEP Public Safety Assistant will work side-by-side with full-time, part-time, and college-age interns participating in day-to-day Community Risk Reduction (CRR) efforts and emergency response (support role only). Each shift will include (not limited to) apparatus and station maintenance, in-house crew training, and other CRR activities.

STEP Thrive Counselor in Training (CIT)

The Counselor in Training (CIT) will be responsible for assisting Thrive staff with supervising and supporting youth participants (students who have completed grades K-5) in the Thrive Summer Program. Counselors in Training will be asked to participate in activities with younger children, help set up projects and games, provide general supervision during playtimes, and help groups transition between program spaces & activities.

STEP Library Assistant

The Winooski Memorial Library Assistant will support various aspects of Library operations, including light circulation duties, programming assistance and development, general administrative tasks, and other library-related tasks as assigned. Comfort and ability to provide high-quality customer service among a diverse community of users across is a must.

STEP Parks and Trail Crew

Parks and Trail Crew Members will be responsible for maintaining current trails in Winooski as well as further expanding and improving them in alignment with the City’s Parks and Open Space Master Plan. Members will clear and maintain pathways and address issues like erosion damage and invasive species. Projects throughout the summer may include building bridges, creating water bars, and planning future trails and trail improvements. Parks and Trail Crew Members will also assist with ongoing park maintenance including field lining, field maintenance, and landscaping.
