Winooski US-7 Concrete Repair Project Update 8.27.21

US 7

Project Description: The Vermont Agency of Transportation will be rehabilitating the existing concrete roadway in an effort to improve the ride over the surface, and to extend the serviceable life of the concrete before major reconstruction is necessary. Treatment options will be evaluated during the design phase, though it is anticipated that work will include diamond grinding of the surface to improve smoothness and joint filling and repair using either a cementitious or asphaltic material. At this time, it is not anticipated that guardrails or signs will be included as part of the project.

Location: This project begins on U.S. Highway 7 just after the bridge over the Winooski River and extends northerly along US 7 for 0.138 miles to the intersection with West Allen St., U.S. 7, and Vermont Route 15. This project includes the north and southbound entrances and exits to the circulator, as well as the concrete panels on West Allen St. at the intersection with U.S. 7 to the intersection with Follett Street.

Construction Activities: Crews will not be working Friday night (8/27). Installation of techcrete material in repair areas is scheduled for completion on Sunday night (8/29). Crack fill/joint sealing operations throughout the project are scheduled to begin on Sunday night as well. It is anticipated that this work will take two nights, weather permitting. Work will then transition to South Burlington for the remainder of the week. Please note that all operations next week are weather-dependent, and inclement weather can alter the anticipated schedule. Should the contractor be on-site Wednesday, 9/1, crews are aware of the event in Rotary Park. Parking stall areas will be restricted during construction next week. Work in the parking stall areas will begin at 9 PM. Holiday: In observance of the Labor Day holiday, the contractor will not be working Friday night, 9/3 through Monday night, 9/6. Work will resume on Tuesday, 9/7 at 7 PM.

Traffic Impact: It is anticipated that traffic will be reduced to one lane of travel within the project area Sunday through Tuesday night (8/29-8/31) from 7 PM to 6 AM Some work will be performed in parking stall areas in the early part of the week next week (8/29). Work is not permitted to begin in these areas prior to 9 PM.
